The stallions of Benvarden are the cornerstone of our breeding program.
In the past we improved the quality of our mares by purchasing the best stallions we could find
in Australia & breeding them to the best of the mares we were producing.
Over the years a few mares were purchased to introduce some extra new bloodlines
to our program.

In 2012 we decided to go further afield to find stallions with the qualities
we so wanted to breed into our own stock.
We had heard of & seen of the quality of the new breed of American Shetlands
that was taking the international miniature horse world by storm
& decided to investigate for ourselves.
Our visit to the AMHR National Show in Tulsa Oklahoma was amazing!
There we saw the progeny of American Shetlands bred with miniature horses & knew this was our new direction.
